The Importance of Publishing: Trust Markers in the Age of Misinformation

Trust in science has been eroded over the last few years, and with the rise of generative artificial intelligence, and its potential for use in spreading mis- and disinformation, the publication of trustworthy research, scholarship, and news has never been more vital to a functioning democracy. The panel will address the critical role of publishing in the face of fake news and deep fakes, and how the publishing industry writ large can strategically work together to communicate the continued importance of the publishing endeavour.
