Ruth is a climatologist who graduated from the UABC with a BSc in Oceanography and a M.Sc in Physical Oceanography from CICESE. A PhD in Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Sciences from the University of Oxford. She did a postdoc at the CSAG at the University of Cape Town in South Africa and another at UCLA. From 2012 to 2013, she was a Professor at the Universidad Veracruzana. In September 2014 she joined the Institute of Engineering, UNAM, as a researcher. She has more than 20 years of experience working with regional climate models to study extreme precipitation events and temperatures in Mexico. She was a Lead Author of Chapter 8 of IPCC Working Group I for AR6. She is co-chair of the American Monsoon Panel of the CLIVAR GEWEX.
