Catriona MacLeod Stevenson is General Counsel and Deputy CEO at the Publishers Association (UK). Catriona has extensive experience in advising creative industries and brand owners, having previously worked for the global recorded music industry trade association, IFPI, and as a successful IP litigator at award-winning law firm Bristows LLP.

Catriona is on the board of the British Copyright Council, AIPPI’s Copyright Committee and the International Publishers Association Copyright Policy Working Group. She participates in WIPO’s Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights and Advisory Committee on Enforcement as a publishing industry delegate. She is also a member of the UK IPO’s Research Expert Advisory Committee and UK IP Crime Group and has close connections with the world-renowned City of London Police IP Crime Unit (PIPCU).

Catriona’s recent industry-leading work on IP and enforcement matters includes the provision of critical assistance to US law enforcement in the global shutdown of notorious pirate network Z-Library, and guidance to publishers in relation to the unauthorised use by AI companies of copyright-protected works in the training and operation of generative AI models.
